ANTEC Testimonials

I first attended ANTEC in the early 1970’s in Boston, where I presented a paper. It was my first experience with attending a technical conference and making a presentation. I actually learned more than I could have possibly imagined. Since then the primary source of technological advancements in the plastics industry. It is a forum where industrial, technical and academia investigators present their work collectively.
The thermoforming sessions have provided me with a stage to present my work over the years. But more importantly it has served as the primary source for my first introduction to major technological advancements in the industry. For example computer simulation of the thermoforming process and thermoformable Polypropylene were introduced at ANTEC in their early stages of development. I strongly recommend that every thermoformer take the time to attend an ANTEC technical session.

SPE is a unique organization, providing a forum for the industrial and academic professional to interact technically, socially, and also do business. This has been my strongest motivation for joining SPE in 2000. The other benefit about SPE is that it is adaptive to the changes in the polymer field and education. These have been reflected in the running of SPE as an organization and in the yearly ANTEC conference.

My first Antec conference was is 1995. At that time, I had only been in the extrusion and thermoforming industry for less than a year and I knew very little about either process. We were also extruding and thermoforming millions of pounds of recycled PET. Attending the Antec conference was a perfect opportunity for me to learn about the technical aspects of extrusion and thermoforming. I also attended as many sessions on polyesters that I could. Most if not all of the advances in polyester chemistry was in the injection and blow molding industries.
While attending sessions from the injection molding and blow molding divisions, I was able to take the knowledge that I had gained and translate it into great successes within our extrusion and thermoforming operations. I have been attending the conferences every year and each time I bring home valuable information that just might give us the advantage we need in the market place.
